I'm teaching, via zoom, English to Ukrainians in country and as refugees. I always ask about safety and worry when a student is missing who I know is in Ukraine. In our last class I asked a student, because I know where she is and the news reports I've seen, how she is doing. Her reply "no soldiers, just bombs". She'd been joining from her home, but it appeared she was in a different space, possilby a shelter. Some join in curfew with just their faces aglow from the device. Ukrainians are resilient and fierce. But, I sense and escalation of...something...yet their commitment to joining the lesson is legend. Thank you for this essay
